Summer of a Lifetime (Take #1)

Hey!

This is an actual blog post, not just pictures :) I wanted to tell you a little bit about an experience that I had in 2008, when my whole family went to New Zealand for three weeks.

Day 1-2: We fly out to New Zealand on a 17 hour (total) flight process (we flew to Dallas, then to L.A., then to Aukland, NZ). We arrived in New Zealand at about 6am (17 hours ahead of Eastern time, mind you), and went out to breakfast with some of Mom's wonderful NZ friends. (By the way, she was an exchange student in NZ for a year in highschool). Then, we drove - a lot. We drove to Cathedral Cove (where a series of shots in Prince Caspian were filmed) and videoed ourselves running out onto the beach, like the movie. Then, we drove some more, and (I think it was that day) drove on a road called "The Forgotten World Highway," named that for a reason. When we arrived at the house we were staying at, they were shocked that we had driven on the Forgotten Highway, saying that not many New Zealanders had even driven on it! It was fun.

I won't outline every day after that, but let's just say it was AMAZING! We saw black sand beaches; Milford Sound; Mt. Egmont (my favorite mountain in the WORLD); the Southern Alps; Mt. Ruapahu (which was Mt. Doom in the Lord of the Rings); WILD PENGUINS, WILD SEALS, AND WILD DOLPHINS; A REAL KIWI (the bird); Wellington; Christ Church; Dunedin (a chocolate capital of the world); Invercargill; hot spots with hot springs, mudpots, and geysers; GREAT people, and MUCH more!

We hope to go back someday and visit the Northlands and my mum's (adopted) family again.

This is me, singing out :)
